4 Mouth-Watering Things To Make With A Sprouted Grain Tortilla

Hungry?  Do you have some tortillas in the fridge?  Hopefully they are not white flour tortillas, but instead, sprouted whole grain tortillas.

If you’ve ever looked at the ingredient list on white flour tortillas, you will notice they are made with enriched flour and many unrecognizable ingredients better known as  chemicals and preservatives.  Yuck!   But sprouted grain tortillas, like the ones by Engine 2 Plant Strong http://engine2diet.com/food-line/and Food For Life https://www.foodforlife.com/products, contain quality ingredients such as organic barley, quinoa, millet, lentils and sesame seeds.  These tortillas are full of fiber and protein and they taste delicious!  Get in the habit of keeping some in the refrigerator or freezer.

Of course these are great for tacos and fajitas, but try them in other ways as well!  Here are 4 easy throw-together meal ideas using a sprouted tortilla:

  1.  Banana and Nut Butter Tortilla:  Simply warm up the tortilla in the microwave for about 20 seconds or in a hot pan until soft, spread on some all-natural almond butter or peanut butter, and top with sliced bananas, cinnamon and a little unsweetened, unsulfured shredded coconut.  Yum!

2. Breakfast Tortilla:  Simply warm up the tortilla for about 20 seconds in the microwave or on a hot pan, add an egg any way you like it, a little sauted kale or spinach, sliced avocado and salsa.  What a great way to start the day!

3.  Tortilla Veggie Pizza:  Look in your fridge and grab any veggies you have to create the perfect Veggie Pizza!  Start by slicing and sauteing the vegetables for a few minutes in olive oil and season with salt and pepper.  Then brush the tortilla with tomato sauce, add the sauteed vegetables, sprinkle with a lot of antioxidant-filled oregano and a bit of cheese!  Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.  Can you say delicious??
